Welcome to Tower Habitats Your Habitats Wild Things & Places Get Involved Planning resources News Contact It may be hard to believe that somewhere like Tower Hamlets, an inner-city London Borough, has much wildlife, but if we look more closely, there is much to see. Tower Hamlets is home to a range of habitats in parks, squares and burial grounds, waterways, brownfield sites, gardens, and even on the buildings themselves. These all provide homes for a variety of wildlife. Tower Hamlets is important for nationally protected and priority species including bats and the Black Redstart, as well as a host of commoner species of wild plants and animals. Increased development in the borough poses both problems and opportunities for wildlife. A group of dedicated individuals, organisations, businesses and Tower Hamlets Council have come together to form Tower Habitats – the Biodiversity Partnership for the Borough of Tower Hamlets. The aim of the Partnership is to conserve and enhance the borough's wildlife and natural places for today's residents and future generations to benefit from and enjoy.
